april 2 2011: this past march i took the train to nanjing because the city was going to fell trees lining the streets. i have some friends there who were telling me about how they thought it was kind of upsetting, and i found a Weibo group where people were organizing to stop it from happening. my friends in the area aren't really the type to take action, politically, so i didn't find it through them. i tried to encourage them to be more active, but they are scared, and burnt out, and tired, and i understand. lol. we marched in protest, and they tried telling us that the trees were being moved, not felled, but the last time trees were moved to build a subway in nanjing, most of them died!!! ;-; bruh. the campaign started because earlier in march like 40 or 50 maybe plane trees were removed to make way for a subway station, causing the initial public reaction. BUT, GOOD NEWS, EVENTUALLY, the government stopped their plan and stopped getting rid of the trees ^_^ i think theyre redoing the plan for the station now !! 🌳🌳🌳waow
